Dosing pump and controls. Effluent has to be pumped up into the mound rather than flowing by gravity, which adds a pump, a pump chamber, floats, and controls, the same category of equipment cost seen on any pressurized system.
Site grading and excavation. Building a raised mound changes the site's grading and often requires more extensive earthwork than a buried field, plus site restoration once the mound is built.
